• Description: The West Sacramento Home Run offers financial incentives to local West Sacramento families to encourage saving for college or other postsecondary training. Two programs are offered include: ScholarShare 529: an investment account that can grow over time. Earnings on the account are not taxed if used for qualified education expenses. The Home Run offers $50 incentives for opening a ScholarShare account, and another $50 for linking that account to a child's Ready, Set, Save! account. CalKIDS: The state of California also offers funding to help families save for college or other education expenses through California Kids Investment and Development Savings Program. All babies born in California on or after July 1, 2022, will receive a CalKIDS account with a $25 seed deposit, and eligible low-income public school students can receive up to $1,500
