- Description: A volunteer-based tutoring program that helps children become great readers by the end of third grade. Recruits adults 50 and older to serve as mentors in the community and disrupt the cycle of poverty by making a lasting difference in the lives of America's most vulnerable children.

- Eligibility: . Age 50 and older. Can volunteer time to tutor and mentor children who need basic literacy skills and guidance. Possess a high school diploma or GED. Can complete 12 hours of pre-service training. Agree to and can pass a criminal background check. Can serve at least four hours a week for the entire school year
