• Description: Promotes healthy lifestyle habits and overall good health throughout the aging process. Creates an environment that welcomes older people, supports their independence and affirms their dignity. The environment is created through classes, workshops, special events, recreation, collaborations with other agencies, and wellness programs. Locations throughout Sacramento are geared toward the 50+ age group.Programs include: Neighborhood Walk - Active walk groups that currently meet in Oak Park, South Natomas, Pannell, and George Sim Community Centers. Neighborhood Walk group times and meeting days. Sports for Life! Soccer Tournament - Series provides Sacramento and beyond athletes age 50 and above an opportunity to continue playing and competing in the sport they love. Senior Summer Camp - Each summer the City of Sacramento's 50+ Wellness Program hosts an affordable, mini vacation for adults at Camp Sacramento. Registration fee includes meals, traditional camp activities, such as campfires with sing-a-longs, star gazing, a team trivia challenge, and more.Fitness Classes Include: Tai Chi, Yoga, and Strength & Balance - Learn more about classes to help improve balance, relax and relieve stress, or increase flexibility. Line Dancing and Ballroom Dancing Sports and Games
