  • Description: Responsible for the direction, operation, and maintenance of all parks and recreation facilities, programs, and services. Facilities include 15 community centers, 12 swimming pools, an eight-court tennis complex, Mangan Rifle, and Pistol Range, a jogging center, and 2,000 acres of landscape and park facilities.A wide variety of recreation programs and services are delivered through park site activities, community school site activities, community center activities, city-wide tennis programs, neighborhood organized sports, special interest classes, swimming activities, and many special events.Community Centers:Available for public rental for private parties, wedding receptions, etc. Park permits are required for groups of 50 or more people or groups that wish to secure a specific park area. If you are interested in holding an event at a center, see Indoor Facility Rental Information and Forms.Aquatics:Open February through mid-November at the heated and fully accessible Pannell Meadowview Pool. Swim lessons, water orientation, pool rentals, competitive swim programs, and recreation swim hours are offered from June through August. Spray Parks operate Memorial through Labor Day weekends. Youth & Teen Programs:Provide positive alternatives for youth to reduce drug and gang activity in neighborhoods, build self-esteem and help individuals stay interested in school.
