  • Description: The mission of the Code Compliance Division is to promote and maintain a safe and desirable living and working environment. Code Enforcement activities include: (Online Violation Reporting) Neighborhood Compliance Illegal dumping of garbage on private property. Junk and debris, such as old furniture, car parts, appliances or other visual nuisances. Dangerous and/or Vacant Buildings Ceilings, roofs, vertical supports or other horizontal support that sag, split or buckle. Plumbing, electrical or mechanical hazards creating a danger to human health. Excessive infestations of rodents, cockroaches or other vector violations. Unsafe electrical outlets which present a clear and present danger of fire or electrocution. City ordinance encourages vacant buildings to be maintained and occupied. Un-inhabitable buildings due to a lack of care, cleanliness, or sanitary conditions. Defective or inadequate weather protection of exterior walls. Business Compliance handles permits and licensing for tobacco retailers, entertainment permits, taxis, mobile food vendors, arcades and billiards, and other businesses. Anti-Graffiti Program Graffiti abatement services and information Rental Housing Inspection Program address the issue of substandard rental properties, promote greater compliance with health and safety standards and preserve the quality of Sacramento's rental housing. Landscaping/Weed Abatement Residential property is required to be maintained (mowed, trimmed, and/or maintained as often as necessary to prevent overgrowth and blight. Code Liaison Officer Program Provides immediate access to a code enforcement officer Tenant Protection Program Created to assist residential tenants with increasing rental rates by establishing limits on annual rent increases and providing protection from unwarranted lease termination. 3-1-1 Connect mobile apps are available for both iPhone and Android phones.
