  • Description: Provides diagnostic and treatment services for children with delays in the acquisition of speech and language skills, including the language-based reading disability known as developmental dyslexia. Services are provided free of charge. Masonic affiliation is not required.Individual 50-minute therapy sessions are scheduled on a once-weekly basis. Intervention is ongoing and year-round for up to 18 months as determined to be appropriate to meet a child's needs. Summer-only sessions are not available.

  • Eligibility: The following is descriptive of children seen at the Sacramento Childhood Language Center: - Language delays with no apparent cause- Dyslexia - Auditory/Language processing deficits- Normal hearing in at least one earThe Sacramento Childhood Language Center does not serve children whose learning difficulties are primarily related to: - Diagnosed syndromes such as Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Cleft Palate, Muscular Dystrophy- Apraxia, dependent on the severity - Cognitive Impairment/ Developmental Delay- PDD or Autism- Articulation only (specific sounds such as /s/, /r/, or /l/)- Stuttering/ Voice- Severe Oral Motor issues/ Feeding issuesAdditional Criteria:- Children between eighteen months and twelve years of age are eligible for services - Eligibility is determined by our assessments or those provided by other agencies - Child and at least one parent or caregiver must speak English - Child must have at least one parent, guardian, or concerned adult who is prepared to follow through with a consistent program - Consistent attendance is mandatory- Children with behavior or attention issues that negatively impact the effectiveness of therapy may not be accepted or will be discontinued.
