• Description: Fun for FAAN Open Swim at the Arcata Community Pool is a monthly open swim event sponsored by Families Advocating Autism Now. Here, you can expect a variety of ages enjoying time in the pool. Come out and enjoy this fun event in the pool to practice skills with your child or to play in the water. There are no lessons going on and there is no age restriction for that time period. Please RSVP for this event to secure your spot. Individuals on the Autism Spectrum and one caregiver are FREE to go in the pool. Siblings may attend for a $5 fee paid at the door or unfortunately will not be allowed in the pool.Children 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult in the water at all times or with an adult chaperone within arms reach of the child. There are lifejackets available at the pool. If you choose to bring your own it will have to be inspected by the lifeguards. Only Coast Guard approved Type II and III lifejackets are allowed. No other lifejackets or floatation suits are allowed. We will have use of the shallow and deep end, and a swim test is required for those wanting to swim in the deep end area. NO SLIDE. If pool toys are brought, they have to be larger than soft ball size. Food and drinks may be brought, but no glass is allowed. There is a very limited amount of refreshments for sell at the pool. There are bathrooms/changing rooms/showers combo rooms.
