  • Description: Provides loans of Braille, cassette and digital talking books, magazines, playback equipment and descriptive videos to persons unable to read conventional print. Persons can order items on-line, in person, and download some items.

  • Eligibility: Must be certified by competent authority as having a condition that prevents the reading of standard printed material, unable to read or unable to use standard printed material as a result of physical limitations, having a reading disability resulting from organic dysfunction and of sufficient severity to prevent the reading of printed material in a normal manner. Client will need a user identification and password to order online with the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC). To obtain user identification and password call (916)654-0640 or 1-800-952-5666. Must apply for library services. Contact the Braille and Talking Book Library to obtain a print application form, or visit their web site and download the online individual application form. For Spanish applicants, please use the Online Individual Application Form and mail it directly to the California Braille and Talking Book Library in Sacramento.
