Service Name: BERKELEY RIDES FOR SENIORS AND THE DISABLED (BRSD) (FORMERLY BERKELEY PARATRANSIT SERVICES)

• Description: Assists Berkeley residents with disabilities and those age 70 or over with access to different transportation services. Those with visual impairments should notify staff of special communication requirements. The four programs include:
  
  TAXI SCRIP PROGRAM:
  Provides voucher to pay for rides on conventional taxicabs and wheelchair-accessible taxicabs.
  
  WHEELCHAIR-VAN PROGRAM:
  Provides a free van voucher and/or free taxi scrip exclusively to wheelchair users. Provides van service for rides that are beyond the scope of services provided by East Bay Paratransit/ATC.
  
  EAST BAY PARATRANSIT TICKETS:
  Provide a limited number of free East Bay Paratransit/ATC tickets to individuals certified by East Bay Paratransit.
  
  HIGH MEDICAL NEED PROGRAM:
  Assists registered Berkeley Rides for Seniors & the Disabled. Offers participants with transportation needs associated with frequent medical appointments. Issues extra taxi scrip or wheelchair van vouchers.
  
  GOGOGRANDPARENT (GGG):
  a call center that arranges rides with Uber and Lyft. BRSD has partnered with GGG to provide free uber and Lyft rides. The program is currently available to registered BRSD riders on a limited basis.
  
  Please note:
  Offers extended hours for services during Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) and Disasters. Services are available if power is turned off in this facility.

• Eligibility: Taxi Script: Seniors over the age of 70 or those certified as disabled by East Bay Paratransit of ANY age or income. Wheelchair-Van Program: Those who travel by wheelchair and are certified by East Bay Paratransit as requiring "wheelchair-lift" service, irrespective of income level. East Bay Paratransit Tickets: Limited to providing transportation services to people who meet criteria established in the Americans with Disabilities Act. High Medical Need Program: Must be an existing Berkeley Rides for Seniors AND the Disabled participant. Eligibility determined based on need. GoGoGrandparent (GGG): Must be an existing Berkeley Rides for Seniors AND the Disabled participant. Eligibility determined based on need.
