Participants find their own place to rent, pay around 30% of income toward rent. The Housing Authority will pay the difference directly to the property owner. PUBLIC HOUSING ASSISTANCE: Tied to a specific dwelling. The family who lives there will pay an affordable rent, but if they move, they receive no further rental help.
