  • Description: Provides financial help to people who cannot pay their energy bills. Helps customers who do not qualify for any other assistance programs, such as LIHEAP/HEAP, but who cannot pay their SDG&E bill due to temporary financial hardship. Provides assistance up to $300 per household per year (minimum is $50). If the customer owes more than $300, a co-payment and/or a payment agreement on the difference is required. NTN program manager will consider exceptions to the $300 limit on a case-by-case basis. SDG&E customers who reside in the company's service territory in San Diego County can apply for the program.

  • Eligibility: Assistance is for those who are living in the City of National City. Must meet the following: • If customer is low income and has not received LIHEAP assistance in the past year, the customer is referred to a LIHEAP agency first • Customers do not have to be low income to qualify but must be at least 60 days past due on SDG&E bill and unable to pay, not qualify for LIHEAP funding, and certify experiencing serious illness, temporary unemployment, disability, or unusual hardship. • The customer must have received 48 hour disconnection order (not a 15 day notice) in order to receive assistance • If customer is still facing disconnection of service after receiving LIHEAP assistance, NTN may be used as a supplement (see maximum assistance) • Bad debt accounts (closed and sent to collections) are not eligible for assistance
