  • Description: An advocacy and resource center for people with disabilities.Core services include: Assistive Technology: working with consumers to identify assistive technology needs and resources, including connecting consumers to Device Lending Library and Voice Options programs. Housing Assistance: assistance with locating affordable and accessible housing. Staff can assist with determining eligibility for housing subsidies and applications for housing assistance programs. Independent Living Skills Training: curriculum focusing on maintaining independence in the community. Join in person or on Zoom. Individual & Systems Advocacy: empowers and supports consumers to overcome barriers to programs and services; helps the disability community advocate for inclusive policies, programs, and allocation of resources. Information and Referral: referral to partner agencies for additional resources and assistance. Peer Counseling: opportunities for people with disabilities to meet and receive support. All of the Independent Living Specialists are trained in the peer counseling model. Personal Care Assistance: helps match consumers with personal care providers through QuickMatch. Transition-Institutional Diversion: assists in transitioning into skilled nursing/ facilities and other restricted settings to living in their own home. RIL provides tools and AT to help people remain in their homes and prevents people from entering into a facility. Transition Youth Services: transition age youth mentoring program. Resources for Independent Living does not provide motel vouchers or own, manage, or rent any housing.Accepts donations of gently used assistive technology and devices. Call for more information.
