  • Description: Provides emergency support services to low-income Native Americans.Direct services include: Nutrition services for limited food resources. Utility Assistance: prevent disconnection of utilities or to restore services. Housing Assistance: prevent eviction, to obtain suitable housing, or provide assistance to homeless families transitioning to permanent housing. Education Assistance: purchase books, supplies, or tuition for basic skills/GED education when financial aid has not been received. Employment Assistance: purchase employment required clothing, fees, or dues when no other program is available; to purchase books, supplies, or tuition for vocational training when financial aid has not been received.Other services include: Information and referral Forms assistance/application assistance Counseling and outreach Linkage to other service providers (local and statewide) Workshops on financial planning, nutritious meal planning and preparing a shopping list from planned mealsIndividuals must provide proof of Native American heritage to be eligible for support services.

  • Eligibility: Low-income Native American, Alaskan Native, or Hawaiian Native Families with documentation. In order to be determined eligible for direct services, one must:. Be experiencing an unplanned, unintentional circumstance that resulted in an emergency situation. . Provide proof of Native American heritage. Be in a poverty-level household. Be an off-reservation resident of one of the following counties: Sacramento, Yolo, Alpine, Glenn, Mariposa, Placer, Stanislaus, Amador, Inyo, Mendocino, Plumas, Sutter, Calaveras, Kern, Merced, Tehama, Colusa, Lake, Modoc, Shasta, Tuolumne, El Dorado, Lassen, Mono, Sierra, Fresno, Madera, Nevada, Solano, Yuba
  • Requirements: To qualify for assistance applicant must provide: - Proof of Native American heritage. - Verification of household income for the prior six-month period (must be below the poverty level according to federal guidelines.) - Verification of current household income sufficient to sustain suitable living conditions. - Proof of residency in the service area. - Verification of payment of household bills for the prior 12-month period. - Proof of being at least 18 years of age or verification of being an emancipated youth. - Detailed explanation of unplanned, unintentional circumstance (s) that resulted in an emergency situation.
